Look who's.... 3?!?!?

It's still hard to conceive that I have a 3 year old. I remember when Jayders was just a baby I would nanny for 3 year olds and I just couldn't picture my baby ever being 3. Talking, manipulating, negotiating, yelling, teasing, loving.. and here I am.
Jayden turned 3 on the 16th of July. We talked it up a few weeks before. Telling him how big he was getting. I would always say, "I can't believe you're going to be 3!!" and he would respond, "Yup- Im bigger" ... "Yes you are.. yes you are.."
With all this talk of him being bigger it seems like he figured he was now entitled to things. Like sleeping 8-10 hours instead of 12. Like refusing to take naps because, "the light is still on outside!!!" Like letting himself out of his room and climbing into our bed when he wakes up at the crack of dawn. When just weeks before I was questioning morning preschool because Jayden doesn't get up before 10... I miss those days!! He is testing his limits. Which is testing mine. I can't count how many times I have had to lock myself in my bedroom and pray for more patience. Apparently I have raised a sass... I should have seen it coming, since Ryan and I are a little sassy ;) I guess we deserve it.
On the other hand, it is fabulous being able to have a conversation with him. I love hearing him talk and hearing his insights and perspective on life. Oh how he makes me smile. I know this is all part of growing up. He's not going to stay a baby who sleeps 12 hours at night, 2 hours during the day, and does everything I tell him to.
At 3 Jayden still loves dinosaurs. Not only dinosaurs, but anything that growls. And we hear him growl just about as much as we hear him talk. That's not to say he doesn't talk a lot... because he does. :) He loves to watch movies. As long as they have animals or dinosaurs in them.
Jayden is so loving. He's always concerned about how everyone is feeling. Randomly he'll come up to me to make sure I'm okay and ask me if I need anything. He has the biggest heart. He loves his little brother. He is always watching out for him. We had to put a lock outside Alex's door because Jayden would always go in there to make sure he was okay. Now, if Alex cries Jayden runs up to his room as fast as he can and yells through the door, "It's okay Alex! Don't cry. Mommy's coming.. I love you! Don't cry..."

Jayders loves to help. He's a great eater and seems to have a bottomless stomach. He starts preschool in a couple of weeks and Im probably going to cry!! His LOVES fruit snacks, animal crackers, and chicken nuggets. Broccoli is his favorite vegetable. The Elmo obsession has worn off, but he still watches an occasional Elmo's world.
We had a great time celebrating his birthday. Down in Orem @ Pirate Island with my side of the family, and at our house with Ryan's side of the family. I made a pretty awesome dinosaur cake ;)

I'm still laughing about him yelling through ALex' door. Precious! And that Dino cake looks great. You'll have to teach me someday. :)
