Growing like a weed :)

What a crazy few weeks!!

Jayden seems to be growing and learning new things every day. It's a lot of fun but I do miss the "baby" stage.

He is climbing all over the place- he LOVES the stairs. When he sees stairs he starts panting and crawls over to them as fast as he can. He has only climbed two steps successfully (he gets distracted). So we are utilizing the playpen A LOT more than we ever have before!

We have been using sign language with Jayden. I'm not sure if he is getting it or not. When he does something he is not supposed to and I sign and say "No no no" he stops- looks at me.. smiles and starts clapping his hands. Every. single. time.

I'm wondering if he gets this from Ryan. I remember asking him when we were dating if he ever got spanked. I guess his dad had tried to spank him once and every time he spanked him Ryan would laugh. The more he spanked- the harder Ryan laughed...

Okay really the two examples are not VERY similar... but they're kind of the same.

As far as Jayden- and his horrible sleeping habits (getting up 2-3 times a night)...I broke down and have been trying the "crying it out" method (He cries... I cry...). Sort of. It's my own version of it.
Letting him cry it out at night just was not working. I think he really wakes up hungry... I've let him go 1 1/2 hours... but I don't sleep- he doesn't sleep.... and at the end of that 1 1/2 hour span he eats like he hasn't had food in days....

I am letting him "cry it out" for naps... The whole babywise theory of "feed him. keep him awake. put him to sleep" BEFORE I would nurse him to sleep. NOW I feed him- we play for 10 minutes and then I lay him in his crib and he cries himself to sleep but sleeps really well. Typically he only cries for ten minutes before he falls asleep.

Since I have been letting him self soothe for his naps he is only waking up once at night. Instead of the 2, 3, or 4 times a night. And when he wakes up at night I let him cry for 15 minutes before I go feed him.

It has only been 5 days... hopefully he will be back to sleeping through the night soon. But I finally feel like I have some control over things. :::knock on wood:::
