My dolls WERE real

As a child I had "quite the imagination" as my mom liked to say. I wouldn't argue with that. At a young age I was completely adamant of the fact that dolls were real. Not just dolls.. but also stuffed animals. Pretty much any toy with a face and limbs.
I believe my theory was that as long as there were no people around- the dolls would come to life (This was before the movie Toy Story came out). Meanwhile, when humans were around the dolls would pretend to be just dolls.
But I knew they had feelings, so I was very careful with how I handled my dolls. I made sure to feed them the 'play food' which was actually real, because the play food became real when nobody was around. Once I did try to give them a taste of REAL food. I would tuck them into bed. Talk to them... etc.
I remember praying to Heavenly Father and telling him that I knew dolls were real- and if he could let them come to life while I was around I would take very good care of them. And I wouldn't tell anyone. When my prayer was not answered I decided I needed to do something to help Heavenly Father out a bit. I piled all my dolls on my bed. Change of clothes for me, and the dolls who wore clothes. Play food.. and a package of crackers for me. I knew Heavenly Father would lift my bed up out of the room and bring me up to heaven where everyone already knew dolls were real. I sat on my bed and prayed and waited.. prayed and waited.
Funny enough- I remember several times going through this exact same process. So apparently I just didn't lose faith :)
The belief I had that dolls were real lasted quite a few years. I had a big passion about it. :)
I do recall one night thinking that my Jasmine barbie doll was evil. Something about her eyes. I was laying in bed and she was just staring at me. It finally scared me enough that I locked her in a shoebox. Then I realized she could still come out of the shoebox when everyone was sleeping- and she would do something evil. After taping the shoebox shut, and piling a bunch of other toys on top of it I still didn't feel safe. Finally I threw her and the shoebox outside and locked the door.

Was I a little crazy??? Yes. :)

What?!?!?! Are you telling me dolls don't come to life when we are sleeping?

You were crazy!!! Just kidding, you were just being a kid believing in something. I loved your last post because that reminds me of pictures of me as a kid. I had the permed hair as well.

i believed the same thing when i was little. i remember being so convinced that my dolls were real that i had to baptize them so they could get back to Heavenly Father too. lol!

That is seriously the most awesomest thing I've ever heard! I remember having the same issue with stuffed animals. I would bawl in the store, if I picked one up and had to put it down. I didn't want to 'hurt their feelings'! I'm pretty sure it's a girl thing. We're just to empathetic! :)

Hahahaha! That makes me laugh. I had similar experiences too! I don't think I prayed to have live dolls though:)
I did however, have Bonkers, my imaginary pet who would follow me around and swing on the lights in Sacrament Meeting.
He is still around..........

Gee even I as your mom didn't know about the trip to heaven plan. But I thought you told me that you thought one of your dolls moved one time and that it convinced you even more.

It's nice to know I wasn't alone in "knowing" that my dolls were real.
Now for a slightly scary confession... I sometimes still treat Tigger like he's real. I won't leave him in the truck without making sure he's sitting up and tucked in the blankets so he won't get cold. I also usually kiss him goodnight.
Yes, I'm 29 years old. Ü
