The evil 8 year old.... who me??

Was that me??? Seriously- the perm.. the bangs.. the dress!!!

Anyway- on to my memory:
We were living in Pleasant Grove, Utah at the time. It was just me and my two brothers. Steven was 5- Jeremy was 2. I'd like to say I was a nice older sister- but that would be lying :) In our backyard we had a two story playhouse with a balcony. It was the coolest thing ever in my eight year old eyes. However Im pretty sure it was falling apart.
My Uncles were visiting who were around the same age as me. We were playing around in the playhouse and we had a box. I'm not sure if I was deliberately trying to be evil... or in my innocence I was just stupid. I prefer the latter. I was trying to convince my 5 year old brother if we stuck him in the box, and shoved the box off the balcony- he would fly. Steven, in all his wisdom, agreed to get in the box to be shoved off the balcony. He wasn't the brightest crayon in the box (I love you Steven!).
I remember just as we were about to shove the box off the balcony Steven was yelling "No! no! no! I changed my mind" My uncle looked at me and said, "Are you sure we should do this". I APPARENTLY said yes- and we shoved Steven off the balcony.
Needless to say- he didn't fly. He's a tough kid though- no broken bones. My stinking accomplise went in and tattled on me. And a vaguely recall and neighbor witnessing the event- and telling my mom.
I got off pretty easy- 15 minutes in time-out.
It is a story that continues to be retold every few years. Ryan tried to recap the story in Sunday school, but he couldn't remember all the details. I will forever be known in my family as the 8 year old who shoved her little brother off the second story of the playhouse.

Hey you totally stole my hair! and I would have done that to my brother. We would have been friends then...

You were not evil. You were adorable and very inquisitive. And even with a bad perm you are still beautiful. Jennie looks a lot like you.

Turns out you weren't alone in the fashion pain that happened during that time....I had a dress just like that, and the hair, although I never though a kid in a box would fly....

Haaaahahaha.. that's one of my favorite stories.. one of those Savage stories that gets told again and again :) Not sure if it was your "evil" streak or Steven's "not-so-bright" streak ;) Still a great story...

I too have a similar story...that my mom tells over and over. The outcome was slightly worse and I will NEVER hear the end of it. At age 7 I jumped off the balcony with my 2 year old brother in my arms(if I left him he would cry and the gig would be up) I ended up landing on him breaking his tiny baby leg. So sad! What a horrible sister!!! Trying to be sneaky is never a good idea!

You know, I'm the oldest as well, with all brothers. I think all eldest children do similar things to younger siblings, especially younger sibling of the opposite sex.
And at least your hair was permed - mine is naturally curly and experience years of out of control-ness - until I discovered they can relax hair as well as they can perm it. Heaven sent I tell ya!

Ha Ha! I think that we ALL had the dress with that collar at some point! And I had the bad perm too. Love that story!
