Just one of those weeks...

I'm running on six hours of sleep in the last 48 hours... none of which have been a good, deep sleep. So this is basically just one of my venting posts.

I'm going nuts!!! My sister has been visiting for the week while my parents are on their cruise. I decided to have Jayden sleep our bedroom to get him used to his pack n' play for our upcoming vacations this summer. These lasts three nights have HORRIBLE. Every two hours he wakes up screaming. Last night we brought him in bed with us to see if that would help... He was wide awake for an hour and a half. AgGGhH
That night I had started work at 8:45 pm. I had to take two breaks to tend to him when he woke up crying. The third time I figured I need to PTO since I felt bad that Ryan wouldn't get enough sleep since Jayden kept waking up. For that hour and a half he was awake he climbed all over the bed- talking his head off. He would not calm down he was wide awake. He slept for two hours. Woke up again... an hour and a half.. woke up again.
This shift has been hard as I try to sleep when he goes down for his naps. Unfortunately his naps are only an hour long. And I spend the whole hour laying in bed stressing out about the fact that I only have an hour to get much needed sleep. I finally start to relax and fall asleep when he wakes up.
I wonder how many hours I would have to work to pay off all of our medical bills and cars so we could live comfortably on just Ryan's income. I was going to figure it out the other night when work was slow. But Im afraid to see the number. I don't like working. It stresses me out. The only way to be able to NOT work is to work a lot. Being a mom AND working sucks. (Not the being a mom part- I wish I had more energy!!!).
Back to Jayden's sleeping: I am super nervous about these trips we have planned. Jayden has an obvious preference to HIS crib in HIS room. Apparently he doesn't sleep well anywhere else. Which is going to make these trips anything but relaxing. Any tips from moms who have dealt with this before?? You'd think I'd be good at doing things without sleep- I work graves! These vacations are going to be anything but relaxing with a cranky baby and mommy...
Anyway- it's midnight and I hear Jayden crying in our bedroom... until next time :)

Oh that sucks! If you need a nap give me a call...I would be happy to take Jayden for a couple hours.

I also have one of those kids who will only sleep in her own bed so if you figure out a vacation solution let me kow!!

Oh I feel for you! So sorry! I think we are similar in that if we know we don't have too much time to sleep, we stay awake stressing about it.
Advice? What if he didn't nap during the day on your trips.......would he just be knocked out at night???
It is hard to deal with cranky all day, but then he might sleep better at night....? Maybe.
Okay, I'm not much help.
OH! Have Ryan give you and Jayden a blessing! You know...

hey tiff, brooklyn is the same way with the pack'n play. what has worked for us when we go somewhere is just to put her on the floor on blankets or on an air mattress so she's not far from the ground and stack pillows all around. i think the problem with the pack'n play is once they old enough to roll around in the night they hit the sides and once they do that they know they aren't in their crib. so with on the floor or on an air mattress there is more room to move around and not realize that they aren't in their crib. anyway, that works for us. i mean brooke doesn't sleep perfect like that but it's way better than the pack'n play. p.s. i totally know that up talking in the night...brooke did that 3 hrs one night in our bed when she was weening...it's just a tad frustrating!

Man, that sounds like torture! Have you tried having Jayden sleep in the pack and play in his own room? Miles won't sleep if he knows we're in the same room as us (we tried...) but he sleeps well in the pack and play if he's in a different room. Good luck with the vacations this summer!!! We're going to try camping with Miles soon... hopefully that will work okay. I'll keep you posted if I have any grand revelations that will help.

Hallie hated the pack & play the first time we tried it on vacation. And then this weekend she slept like a champ in it. I put a blanket around the outside so she couldn't see out I think it helps a ton! Good luck! If you need a nap, I'd love to watch Jayder's for you!
